Good things:
My 4.0 GPA landed me on the Dean's list for Spring Semester.
I'm going to Colorado at the end of the month to see my sister, brother in law, and nephew.
My tattoo is finished.
I get to see Social Distortion in August.
I had a massage today.


And I have a shiny new flask. 

I have been feeling very sad lately.  Someone plan an exciting adventure for me to cheer me up. :)

My therapist told me there is one thing above all others that will help me overcome my bipolar.  It's not my medication.  It's not my therapy.  It's not finishing up school.  She told me the most important thing I can do is find my joy.  The last time in my life when I felt happy...and I mean honest to goodness happy, not the fleeting moments of euphoria that goes along with being a manic depressive...was spring of 2003.  I was finishing up my first year at college.  I had bought my first horse and was riding every single day.   My camera was still my best friend.  and music was my life.  Depression has robbed me of all the love and passion I had for those things.

In 2009, I am reclaiming that passion.  My guitar will no longer collect dust.  My camera will no longer be in storage.  And even though Steel is for sale, I will do whatever I possibly can to stay involved in the horse community.  My typical resolutions of weight loss, good grades, and better friendships...well, I imagine those will fall into place. 

Heres to you, 2009.

I haven't ridden Steel all summer, but my awesome barn has been putting a little work on him and a girl that rides there has been riding him a couple times a week for me...and well, I must say he is lookin' pretty darn cute.  Not perfect, there are a few things I would do differently with his training...but hey, its free, can't complain, right? ;)

Anyone want to buy him?! He's for sale!!

I just returned from my family vacation to Colorado.    We stayed in an incredible house with the most amazing mounain views you've ever seen.  I accomplished my first big fitness goal an went on a 4 mile mountain hike with my siblings.  I spent many hours with my 6 month old nephew.  Went white water rafting.  Read 4 books.  Did a little shopping.  All in all, a fabulous trip. 

More pictures and details will follor tomorow or perhaps the next Day,  But for now, here are some pictures of Duckie.

Ah, the joys of being unemployed.  Surprisingly enough I have been keeping myself quite busy.  A couple of weeks ago Mandy and I took up hiking.  We try to fit one in everyday, and generally go about 3-4 miles along a trail by my house.  Last week we went to the Minnesota river and ended up going about 7.  It must be working because I was down another 2.8 lbs at my last weigh in.  That makes for a total of 19.9 lbs. I am not going to make my goal of 8 lbs for the month of June, but thats okay.  I'm back on track and thats what matters.

This past week was my birthday.  Friday Mandy and I went to the car show and she let me dress her up rockabilly style.  Later that night my friends and I went out for dinner and drinks.  Good times were had.

I miss my horse, and I think my back is well enough to start going out there more often.  Though the biggest problem is gas money- now that I don't really have any money coming in and it's going to be a struggle to fill up my tank twice a week.  I probably can't start him back on his training schedule until I am employed.

I am officially down 17 lbs.  Go me! I have 83 more until my goal.  I can totally do it. 

I haven't seen my horse in a month due to throwing my back out.  Tomorrow I am going to go see him. I CANT WAIT.

I got laid off at work.  But that's okay.  I will find another job.

And I'm ready for summer!

I guess the only reason I am updating today is because I wanted to share a photo I captured from a video I took of Steel this past weekend.  I'm not going to post the video because it is ust of him running around the indoor arena and he's actually a little stiff, but I wanted to share this photo because it gives a little glimpse into how incredible of a mover he is becoming under the guidance of my dressage instructor.



We've been doing a ton (and I mean lots and lots) of cavelleti work and riding on a very loose rein.  I am so proud of him and ust had to share!  I have another lesson tomorrow night and am going to try to find a way to film it (hey Steph, ya busy tomorrow night? ;)  So hopefully I will get some decent video clips soon!

In other news, I started Jenny Craig a few weeks ago, and despite going out of town, celebrating too much when my sister and the baby were here, going out for my brothers birthday and partaking in the easter dinner, I have lost 7 lbs.  go me!

Yesterday my sister gave birth to a healthy 8 lb 12 oz baby boy named Declan (Deck-lin) William Folger. I CANT WAIT to go to Colorado (hopefully in a couple of weeks.) to meet him :) I will post pictures as soon as I get them :)

Good things:

- Next Monday I take my very first lesson in Classical Dressage. This will be good for Steely and I.
- I am selling my cutback saddle and purchasing a pair of custom tall boots. I am going to feel like a million bucks.
- I have decided that next year I will attend Augsburg college for the Special Ed/EBD program. Classes are on weekends so I can continue working as a para in my current classroom. Woo!
- I picked out my christmas present a few days ago (mini-dv camcorder.) which means I will soon be able to post videos upon videos of my horse.
- I got a puppy!
